The Art of Systemising: My Journey from Mantras to Coaching

In the bustling world of business, where chaos often reigns supreme, I've always had a knack for bringing order to the storm. My name is Mark Elliott, and my special skill has always been to systemise and sort, to simplify and make the complex both repeatable and manageable. This isn't just a skill I've honed; it's a part of who I am, deeply intertwined with my neurodivergent origins that I've come to embrace as my superpower.

The Birth of Mantras

Early in my career, I developed mantras to explain my process to colleagues. These weren't just catchy phrases; they were the distilled essence of efficiency and growth. Let me share a few with you:

“This is the first time it's been done. Second time, how does this differ from the first. Third time, manage the difference between this and the process."

"How can we use what we've done before?"

"How does this fit into the plan?"

These mantras weren't just tools for business; they were lifelines that helped me manage my #Neurospicy traits and maintain calm in the face of chaos. They channelled my unique way of thinking towards growth for the businesses I worked with, allowing us to provide excellent customer service at reduced costs. You can imagine how popular this made me.

The Power of Systemisation

The beauty of systemisation lies in its ability to handle the bulk of customer needs through well-known processes, freeing up our skills to manage and deliver on the unique aspects of each situation. It's not about creating rigid structures but about building flexible frameworks that can adapt and grow.

When I ventured into entrepreneurship with my first business, these systems became my anchor. In a world where there's always SO MUCH TO DO, having clear processes allowed my team to punch above our weight. We weren't just working hard; we were working smart.

From Business Owner to Portfolio Manager

As my journey evolved and I developed a portfolio of businesses in training, advising, and mentoring, my systemisation skills took on a new dimension. They helped me manage growth on all fronts and instil a growth mindset and best practices for my clients. It wasn't just about my success anymore; it was about creating a ripple effect of efficiency and growth across multiple organisations.

The Coaching Evolution

Now, my role has evolved once again. As a coach, I don't impose my systems on others. Instead, I guide people to create their own mantras, their own "Survive & Thrive" methods and processes that suit them, their businesses, and the clients they serve.

Yes, I have collected a wealth of methods, frameworks, and processes over the years. But I use these not to define the path for others, but to seed growth. After all, in coaching, it's your journey, not mine. I'm here with you, to help you on your way.

Embracing Neurodiversity in Business

Looking back, I realise that what some might have seen as quirks or challenges due to my neurodivergence were actually the source of my greatest strengths. My need for order and systems wasn't a limitation; it was a gift that allowed me to see patterns and create efficiencies where others saw only chaos.

By embracing my #Neurospicy traits, I've not only found success in business but also discovered a way to help others harness their unique thinking styles for growth and innovation.

The Future of Systemisation

As we navigate an increasingly complex business landscape, it's crucial to understand that systemisation isn't about creating rigid structures or stifling creativity. Rather, it's a powerful tool for unlocking freedom and enhancing personal agency in both business and life.

Think of systemisation as the scaffolding that supports your vision, not the blueprint that constrains it. When you have robust systems in place, you're freed from constant firefighting and repetitive decision-making. This liberation allows you to focus on what truly matters: innovation, strategic thinking, and personal growth.

The real power of systemisation lies in its ability to create space - space for creativity, for spontaneity, and for seizing unexpected opportunities. It empowers your team, giving them the tools and frameworks to make decisions confidently and contribute more meaningfully to the organisation's goals.

Whether you're a fellow neurodivergent thinker or someone who's always struggled with organisation, I encourage you to look at systemisation not as a constraint, but as a launchpad for freedom. It's about creating a foundation that supports your aspirations, allows for flexibility, and gives you the confidence to pursue your vision without getting bogged down in the details.

In the end, my journey from creating mantras to coaching others is a testament to the power of embracing our unique strengths. So, I ask you: What's your superpower, and how can you systemise it to drive growth in your life and business?

Remember, in the words of one of my favourite mantras: This is the first time it's been done. The second time, how does this differ from the first? The third time, manage the difference between this and the process. Your journey to efficient, growth-oriented systems starts now. Are you ready?
